Sunday Reset Journal Prompts

I’ve always had a love for writing, but when it came to journaling, I struggled to finish a notebook front to back. I’d stay consistent for a week or two, but soon the daily recounting of events felt tedious. I quickly grew bored, and the habit fizzled out.

However, over the past few years, I’ve found a way to make writing work for me—helping me not only learn more about myself but also find peace and clarity. I realized that writing down every single thing that happened in my day wasn’t the answer. Instead, focusing on my goals, my emotions, and the things that genuinely bring me joy helped me feel more grounded.

Now, I’ve developed a journaling routine that allows me to reflect, reset, and prepare for the week ahead. It’s less about documenting every moment and more about checking in with myself to ensure I’m staying aligned with my intentions. Here are a few journal prompts I use each week to help me reflect and reset:

1. What drained me last week?
Example: Scrolling on TikTok when I’m anxious and reaching for my phone first thing in the morning.

2. What gave me energy or peace last week?
Focusing on the positive moments helps me remember what I need more of in my life.
Example: Facetiming my friends, going on a hike, and taking time to write.

3. 3 goals for this week that would bring me peace:
Example: Go to yoga on Sunday, deep clean my room, and finish reading my book.

4. What is something I will do this week to help me accomplish my yearly goals?
By connecting my weekly actions to long-term goals, I stay motivated and focused.
Example: Stick to my running schedule and apply for summer internships.
